Our internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. Onsite Cafeteria, remodeled with new equipment Fitness Center, and Outdoor fitness track About the Role: The Desktop Support Intern works under the guidance of the Desktop Support Manager and local Desktop Support staff to schedule, image, install software, test and deploy new PCs to end users. Reclaim prior equipment, update documentation and assist with disposal process. Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Schedule, image, install software, test and deploy new PCs to users
- Reclaim prior equipment, update documentation and assist with disposal process
- Troubleshoot hardware at point of install to ensure user is able to perform duties
- Investigate and resolve desktop operating system and software issues
- Communicate with users and management about PC Refresh schedule and status
- Investigate and resolve network printing issues
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a technical field in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related Technical Discipline.
- Certifications such as A+ or Microsoft MC a bonus
- Technical knowledge of hardware, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and workstations
- Technical knowledge of PC internal components, including drives, cards, memory upgrades
- Technical familiarity with network printers & printer management
- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
- Equipment support experience with Dell, EMC, Cisco, etc.
- Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards
- Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides
- Ability to investigate PC and software issues
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills
- Written and oral communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
- A strong customer-service orientation
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components
- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers,
- workstations, monitors, and peripherals
- Flexibility to work above and below desk height and on a ladder
- Exposure to both office and heavy manufacturing environments, working in and around dust and fumes, heat and cold, moving machinery, and in areas with a high noise volume
- Bending, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting
