A respected nonprofit organization is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant to support the Finance team. This role focuses on invoice processing, grant expense tracking, vendor management, and financial reporting for grant-funded programs.
Ideal for accounting professionals with experience in nonprofit accounting, grant-funded programs, or social services organizations , this position offers the chance to make a direct impact through mission-driven work .
Candidates with backgrounds as Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable Clerks, Accounting Assistants, or Nonprofit Accountants are encouraged to apply.
Schedule for Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant – Nonprofit Finance
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hybrid schedule with 2 remote days
Key Responsibilities for Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant – Nonprofit Finance
- Process and verify vendor invoices and payments
- Manage accounts payable processing for program and operational expenses
- Enter invoices into the accounting system and process check runs and ACH payments
- Match invoices with purchase orders, contracts, and supporting documentation
- Ensure proper general ledger coding and financial documentation
- Maintain accurate vendor records including W-9s, EFT information, addresses, and 1099 data
- Track grant-related expenses and vendor contract spending
- Input ACH and positive pay banking information
- Manage incoming finance mail and resolve returned checks
- Perform monthly and quarterly accounts payable reconciliations
Prepare journal entries including:
- Credit card expense reclassification
- Monthly invoice accruals
- Expense corrections and adjustments
- Respond to vendor payment inquiries and internal finance requests
- Ensure invoices and expenses are recorded in the correct accounting period
- Assist with financial reporting and documentation related to grant-funded program expenses
- Support finance team projects and reporting as needed
Qualifications for Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant – Nonprofit Finance
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable or accounting experience
- Experience working in nonprofit, social services, education, healthcare, or grant- funded organizations preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience supporting grant expense tracking or program accounting is a plus
