Location: 504 Farmer Street, Plymouth, MI 48170

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Period: Bi-Weekly

Landscape Season Hourly Compensation: $21.00 - $30.00 Per Hour

Landscape Season Max Bonus Availability: 5% ($1,596 - $2,280)

Landscape Season Average Salary Compensation: $33,516 - $45,600

Winter Season Hourly Compensation: $25.20 - $36.00 Per Hour

Winter Season Max Bonus Availability: 5% ($378 - $540)

Winter Season Average Salary Compensation: $7,938 - $10,800

Average Yearly Salary Compensation: $41,454 - $56,400

Reports To: Director of Operations & Field Supervisor

Position Overview

As Sprinkler Technician , you will play a crucial role in professionally installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems. You will conduct routine inspections of existing irrigation system and diagnose the necessary repairs to relay to clients. You will also conduct installation and repair of low voltage outdoor landscape lighting systems.

Responsibilities & Duties

• System Design:
  • Assess the landscape to determine the most effective irrigation system design.
  • Develop plans for the layout and installation of irrigation components, including pipes, valves, controllers, and emitters.
• Installation:
  • Install and set up irrigation systems based on design plans.
  • Lay out pipes, connect valves, install emitters, and ensure proper coverage and distribution of water.
• Equipment Operation:
  • Operate and maintain irrigation equipment and tools, such as trenchers, pipe cutters, and other specialized machinery.
• Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance on irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect and repair or replace malfunctioning components, such as valves, pumps, sensors, and irrigation heads.
• Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with irrigation systems, including issues related to water pressure, leaks, clogs, and electrical malfunctions.
• Scheduling & Programming:
  • Set irrigation schedules based on plant or crop needs, weather conditions, and water conservation goals.
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers to optimize water usage.
• Water Conservation:
  • Implement water-saving techniques and technologies to promote efficient water use.
  • Advise clients on water conservation practices and recommend upgrades to existing systems for improved efficiency.
• Documentation:
  • Keep detailed records of irrigation system installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide documentation and reports to clients or supervisors as needed.
• Client Interaction:
  • Communicate with clients to understand their specific irrigation needs and preferences.
  • Provide recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
• Compliance:
  • Ensure that irrigation systems comply with local water regulations and conservation guidelines.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and best practices.
• Safety:
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Continuous Learning:
  • Stay updated on new technologies and advancements in irrigation systems.
  • Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Work Conditions

• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Requires good manual dexterity.
• Excellent stamina is required.
• Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, snow, and cold.
