Position Summary
The Store Manager plays a critical role in advancing VOA Michigan’s mission by leading store operations that drive revenue, elevate customer experience, and support community impact. This role combines hands-on retail leadership with purpose-driven management, overseeing daily operations, coaching teams, achieving sales goals, and maintaining strong operational and financial performance.

What You’ll Do
Store Operations & Excellence
- Lead all aspects of daily store operations including opening/closing, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and visual standards.
- Ensure the store remains clean, organized, fully stocked, and welcoming.
- Manage POS systems, cash handling, and sales reporting.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop a high-performing store team.
- Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and support professional growth.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
- Conduct performance evaluations and corrective action when needed.
Sales, Profitability & Growth
- Execute strategies to meet or exceed sales goals and KPIs.
- Analyze sales trends and operational data to drive performance.
- Control expenses and labor costs to maximize profitability.
- Coach staff on product knowledge, promotions, and upselling techniques.
Customer Service & Community Impact
- Ensure exceptional customer service that reflects VOA Michigan values.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and with care.
- Foster an environment where customers and donors feel valued and respected.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely restocking.
- Oversee merchandising, pricing accuracy, promotions, and seasonal displays.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and support loss prevention efforts.
Financial Accountability & Marketing
- Review financial and operational reports with the District Manager.
- Manage payroll, scheduling, and budgets responsibly.
- Partner with the Communications Department to implement promotions, campaigns, and community-focused initiatives.
- Support local marketing efforts to increase traffic and engagement.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate degree in business, retail management, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of retail management experience or equivalent leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales and operational data.
- Proficiency with POS systems and retail software.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
