Salary Range: $54,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs for manufacturing projects.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost quotations for sales proposals and customer bids.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for raw materials and services.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams to ensure estimate accuracy and feasibility.
• Identify and assess cost-saving opportunities and potential risks within manufacturing processes.
• Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, project costs, and actual vs. estimated variances.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, fabrication, assembly) and their associated costs.
• Advanced proficiency with estimating software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate material, labor, and overhead costs, including profit margins.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail for accurate quotation generation.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with specialized estimating software (e.g., Costpoint, Hard Dollar, Accubid)
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
• Hands-on experience in a manufacturing production environment
• Certification as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar
