Employee Events and News Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

Responsible for managing and developing all employee events and communications. This position manages and maintains activities that deliver meaningful value to our employees. Responsible for creating strategies to maintain and enhance employee engagement, satisfaction and communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Manages the design, development, and implementation of all employee special events, including but not limited to, employee appreciation days, turkey distribution, holiday gift distribution, employee meetings and employee opinion survey. Evaluates employee tournaments, parties, give-a-ways, and entertainment; facilitates the review process for all events, and provides input to casino management.
  • Budgets and reviews cost of employee activities to ensure they remain within allocated amounts.
  • Works with Senior Management to develop and implement the Employee Appreciation Program.
  • Responsible for design, development and implementation of the weekly employee newsletter, for distribution to all employees on property and satellite properties, providing timely and informative reading.
  • Manages Employee News and Events coordinators tasks.
  • Coordinates with the Marketing Department on the creation and distribution/display of posters to inform employees of upcoming events, etc. and supports marketing initiatives by encouraging employee involvement.
  • Works with the local community to coordinate and manage employee volunteer opportunities and/or partnerships.
  • Maintains and updates daily, all employee news-related information on the property Intranet with information from daily Breeze, Current meeting and other internal sources.
  • In conjunction with training department develops information for pre-shift to include but not limited to employee's news and policy updates.
  • Develops and participates in special projects and completes other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of Employee and departmental information.
  • Regularly confers with department management and with Director to review achievements and to discuss needed changes in goals, objectives and/or department direction resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training in events planning, communications, journalism, or marketing experience. Experience in the following is preferred:

Media

Gathering information and creating newsletters

Desktop publishing

Public speaking skills

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess excellent oral, written and strong organizational skills. Must be computer literate in Microsoft Excel and Word or related software. Desktop publishing knowledge required.

There is minimal supervision of this position, so the ability to effectively perform on one's own is required.

Must be able to effectively resolve problems based on common-sense use of reasoning ability, as well as knowledge of established property policies.

This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to write effective reports and memos. Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or guests. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. When on the casino floor the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment is typically smoky.
