Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology-HP or TS

Position Summary

Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine's Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology Service is on the lookout for a passionate part-time (Health Programs Clinical Track) or full-time (Health Programs Clinical or Tenure Track) faculty member. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level to help shape our clinical service, teaching, and research mission.

Why MSU?

Become part of a vibrant academic community at Michigan State University, where you can work within either the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences or the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. We offer a flexible appointment that aligns with your professional goals, allowing you to focus on teaching, clinical work, or researchwhatever inspires you most! Collaborative research is encouraged, but not mandatory. The position has the flexibility to be less than a full-time appointment and will be assigned based on the goals of the candidate and the needs of the department.

Unique Imaging Experience

The Diagnostic Imaging Service at MSU handles over 12,000 cases annually, offering diverse opportunities for specialization in various species and diagnostic modalities. Our dedicated imaging team consists of three part-time radiologists, an intern, Radiology Service Manager, PACS administrator, and wonderful team of nurses, sonographers, radiographers and a veterinary assistant. We are actively pursuing a residency in diagnostic imaging.

Our service is supplemented by teleradiology to efficiently manage caseloads and enhance teaching, research, and outreach opportunities for on-site faculty. Notably, this position does not require on-call responsibilities, and we offer flexible on-site hours.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Our department features advanced imaging equipment, including:

  • A new 3T Phillips 7700 MRI

  • Visaris Vision Air overhead large animal radiology suite
  • Multiple ultrasound (two Aplio 700, one GE logic S8) units and
  • Three small animal radiology (two Canon, one Konica) suites

Future initiatives include the addition of a Qualibra large-bore standing and recumbent large animal CT and access to veterinary PET/MRI.

Join Us!

If you're ready to make a significant impact in veterinary medicine and advance animal health through excellence in care, education, and research, we want to hear from you. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology Service.

Our Health Programs (HP) and Tenure System positions are dynamic and generally have a 50-75% clinical appointment for the HP track and 30-50% clinical appointment for the tenure track. Both HP and tenure faculty have equal voting rights, and the main difference between the two is a primary and independently driven research focus is expected for tenure stream faculty whereas a more collaborative research focus for HP faculty is acceptable. For both systems, effort distributions across clinical service, teaching and scholarly activities are negotiable with the Department Chairperson and are amenable to change.
