Maranatha Baptist Church (Cedar Springs, MI) Pastor

THE BIG PICTURE

Maranatha Baptist Church of Cedar Springs, MI ( cedar.com/index.html) seeks a Pastor to lead our congregation in service and obedience to God’s Word. MBC averages around 60 in attendance, having ages ranging from toddlers to seniors; including active young families in the congregation and leadership. The body has an earnest desire for the Word and a genuine love for one another. Our previous pastor (of 10 yrs) has followed God’s leading to shepherd a church plant and we are looking for the man that God would have to lead us in His continued ministry here.

Description:

The pastor will lead by example and direction; preaching and teaching the Word, providing direction for ministry, and overseeing the operations of MBC. Expectations include: expositional preaching and teaching of scripture, provision of care and counseling to those in need, discipleship of others to become leaders in ministry, leading/facilitating ministries of and to the body, overseeing the administration of the legal entity.

Qualifications:

Personal – Must meet the qualifications defined in 1Timothy and Titus.

Education – A graduate of an accredited seminary or bible school is preferred, but the ability to “rightly divide the word” is required.

Experience – 2+ yrs experience as a senior/lead/only pastor is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Give highest priority to a personal, growing relationship with the Lord and then to godly leadership of his family.

Be a loving and wise shepherd to the body with the primary focus of faithfully preaching and teaching the Word of God with boldness, clarity, and relevancy.

Equip the church to do the work of the ministry [Eph 4:11-12]

Lead the church in obedience to God by example, instruction, and direction.

Disciple others, training them to be leaders and disciplers of others as well.

Give oversight to the care of physical and spiritual needs within the body; including counseling, visitation, church discipline, etc.

Preside over special services and ceremonies like weddings, funerals, ordinations, and so on.

Fulfill the duties of the Senior Pastor as outlined in the constitution of the church.
