Salary Range: $86,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for manufacturing applications.
• Design, implement, and validate laser welding fixtures and tooling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve laser weld defects, production issues, and equipment malfunctions.
• Specify, procure, and commission new laser welding equipment and auxiliary systems.
• Provide technical expertise and training to production and maintenance teams on laser welding best practices.
• Conduct metallurgical analysis and material compatibility studies related to laser welding.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and preventive maintenance schedules.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and optimizing industrial laser welding processes for manufacturing.
• Profound understanding of laser welding principles, metallurgy, material interactions, and common weld defects.
• Demonstrated ability to program, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial laser welding equipment (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG lasers).
• Experience with process validation, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis for manufacturing weld issues.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) for automated laser welding cells.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology techniques (e.g., CT scanning, metallography) for weld quality inspection.
• Experience with welding exotic or difficult-to-weld materials (e.g., titanium, superalloys, dissimilar metals).
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles related to laser welded assemblies.
• Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
