Direct Hire Diesel Mechanic – Field Service (Heavy Equipment)

Toledo, OH / Southeast Michigan

$25–$35/hr + Overtime + Service Truck

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM, with some Saturday OT

About the Role:

Express Employment is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic with strong hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment such as skid steers, cranes, forklifts, and shears for a client with several locations in Toledo and SE Michigan. This field service position offers steady, full-time work with a company that values skill, independence, and quality craftsmanship.

You’ll be responsible for traveling between four local sites in Toledo and Southeast Michigan (typically within a 50–60 mile radius). A company service truck is provided for travel between locations, with most work centered in Toledo.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Conduct engine service and blade replacements as needed.
• Inspect, test, and document all repairs for compliance and performance.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition.
• Collaborate with team members and management to ensure efficient repairs and equipment uptime.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience (skid steers, cranes, forklifts, and shears a plus).
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
• Must have own basic tools (additional tools provided as needed).
