Director Technical Accounting
- Conduct comprehensive technical research on complex accounting issues, focusing on the interpretation and application of US GAAP to support accurate and compliant financial practices.
- Develop, document, and regularly update accounting policies and procedures to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of external and internal financial reports, ensuring all disclosures are timely, complete, and in strict accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Review, analyze, and interpret contracts to identify and resolve accounting implications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance with company policies.
- Draft high-quality technical whitepapers and position statements to document significant accounting conclusions, policy decisions, and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee accounting for equity and liability transactions, with particular emphasis on stock warrants, ensuring accurate valuation, classification, and reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage financial derivatives and other complex financial instruments, ensuring proper recognition, measurement, and disclosure in financial statements.
- Serve as a key advisor to leadership on technical accounting matters, providing training and guidance as needed to promote a culture of financial integrity and excellence.
- Extensive expertise in technical accounting standards applicable to both private and public entities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant time devoted to technical accounting roles.
- Demonstrated expertise as a technical accounting director, with in-depth knowledge of complex accounting standards and their practical application.
- Prior Big 4 Audit Firm Experience is required.
- Extensive and current knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and complex accounting matters such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity-based compensation, and financial instruments.
- Proven ability to research, interpret, and apply new and evolving accounting standards to complex transactions.
- Experience preparing technical accounting memos, position papers, and documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success collaborating cross-functionally with finance, legal, operations, and IT teams on accounting implications of business initiatives and contracts.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of automotive industry accounting standards is a plus.
