Thermoforming Machine Operator

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Thermoforming Machine Operator to join our team. As a Thermoforming Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating one type of thermoforming machine to meet customer and company quality expectations. Your role will involve ensuring machine safety, installing and maintaining tooling, conducting quality checks, and performing general maintenance duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of thermoforming processes and possess excellent mechanical skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate one type of thermoforming machine, including starting/stopping the machine, controlling heaters, cleaning molds/plugs, pulling scrap, and installing form, trim, picker, and stacker tooling.
• Demonstrate knowledge of machine safety features and follow safety protocols.
• Identify different tooling components and replace tooling as required within a two-hour timeframe.
• Prepare molds by placing cover sheets and setting cut pressure, index speed, and index length.
• Review daily schedule, stage materials and tooling, and ensure understanding of quality and tooling specifications for each job.
• Utilize thickness gauge/micrometer and interpret part prints.
• Deliver sample parts/bags and quality information at the start of each job.
• Create, verify, and scan inventory labels accurately.
• Perform first piece/part approval for new jobs and conduct regular quality checks on parts.
• Complete final packaging tasks, including labeling and wrapping of skids.
• Perform utility and material handling duties as needed.
• Load film and identify different film types and characteristics.
• Stop machines and report malfunctions/defects to the Supervisor.
• Perform basic equipment and tooling maintenance, and notify management of complex maintenance requirements.
• Respond to and repair hydraulic and water leaks.
• Communicate with the Die Shop for tool design adjustments and sharpening of dies.
• Maintain clean and tidy work areas, perform facility enhancements, and assist with non-production equipment repairs.
• Assume line lead responsibilities in directing Runners and Packers when necessary.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures, report safety hazards/violations, and perform lockout/tag out procedures when required.
• Label plastic scrap totes correctly and complete return to stock forms.
• Identify and replace non-conforming wood pallets.
• Perform food checks on food products and adhere to machine cleaning requirements.
• Lead line clearances and utilize the Paperless system for recording and tracking job information.
• Perform bolt checks and train new Packers and Runners as needed.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor or management team.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Thermoforming Machine Operator or in a similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of thermoforming processes.
• Ability to read and interpret part prints and utilize measuring tools.
• Knowledge of machine safety protocols and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
