Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan (49007) – Explore Michigan healthcare opportunities in a city known for its thriving downtown, cultural attractions, and outdoor recreation.
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840–$1890
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 22, 2025 – December 22, 2025)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical/Surgical Unit (20-6440 AMU)
• Nursing Shifts: 4x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other Friday and Saturday
• Float Requirement: As needed to similar Med/Surg departments
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Epic EMR experience required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or MS/Tele nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
• Epic charting experience required
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float to other Medical/Surgical units as needed
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, GI bleed, DKA, AMS, and sepsis
• Manage a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on a 33-bed medical/surgical unit
• Administer medications, monitor patient progress, and document care using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
• Perform and manage clinical skills such as IV starts, wound care, central line management, and more
• Participate in nursing orientation and ongoing training modules
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Float to similar Med/Surg units as needed
