Assembler

Shift: 1st

Location: Comstock Park, MI

Pay: $17.88 - $25.82/hr

The Assembler is responsible for basic, manual tasks related to building (assembling) industrial HVAC units. Tasks can include building basic subassemblies using hand tools (wrenches, hammers, pliers and drills), installing high-temp padding (cut with retractable knife and/or using a simple spot welder), and assisting in installation of components for the unit (fans, shafts, dampers, etc.). After training, this position will build smaller HVAC units. Assignments will typically be overseen by the more experienced Assemblers in the area. The tasks that make up this job will be taught to a new Assembler I. It can take up to 6 months to learn all components of building an HVAC unit.

Qualifications: High school diploma or any combination equivalent to high school

Experience: Construction, using hand tools, readying blueprints, constructing/building a unit to specs.

Essential Functions: RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Interface and communicate with other departments to accomplish tasks.

2. Maintain a clean work area.

4. Working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements.

5. Must be available for overtime.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Show operational proficiency with Hi-Lo equipment.

2. Show operational proficiency with overhead crane equipment (can be taught).

3. Use of hand tools to install insulation and build subassemblies.

4. Building/constructing a steel box in which mechanical subassemblies will be installed in.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• 3. Must be dependable and on-time.

• Must be able to identify and work with small hand tools.

• Ability to climb and descend ladders (some 10’ in height).

• Lifting required (up to 50lbs).

• Work performed standing the majority of the time.

• Shop floor position, heated, not air-conditioned.

• This position must comply with all company policies & procedures.

• The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following demands: lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling and crouching.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)/Dress for Safety:

• Manufacturing associates are required to wear steel or composite toe safety shoes. As an employee you are eligible for $150 reimbursement for safety toe shoes/boots.

• Safety glasses are to be always worn while on the manufacturing floor (a pair will be provided to you). Prescription safety glasses must be Z87 impact rated.

• Jeans in good condition are permitted (no excessive skin exposed).

• T-shirts, sweatshirts (no strings/hoods worn down), or shirts with logo’s are permitted; however, all logo’s, text and graphics must be acceptable for the business environment.

Salary Range (Assembly I, II, III) $17.88 - $25.82 per hour

Expected hours: Scheduled 40 per week

Schedule:

• 4 - 10 hour shift Monday through Thursday

• Day shift 6:00a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Overtime Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or Saturday 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
