Medical Director Psychiatrist
Medical Director (Psychiatrist) – Child & Adult Behavioral Health | 1099 Contractor
Location: Detroit / Wayne County, MI (Onsite Required)
Job Type: Contract (1099)
Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 (based on caseload)
About the Role
We are hiring a Medical Director / Psychiatrist to lead behavioral health services for a diverse patient population (children & adults). This is a hands-on leadership role combining psychiatric care, clinical oversight, and program development across in-person and telehealth settings .
Important: This is a 1099 independent contractor position and requires on-site presence daily (non-negotiable).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and documentation
- Provide clinical leadership, consultation, and supervision to staff
- Prescribe medications and review lab results
- Support behavior treatment plans (BTC) and clinical decision-making
- Oversee quality of care, compliance, and regulatory standards
- Lead team meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating psychiatric staff
- Collaborate to expand telehealth and in-person services
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO with an active Michigan medical license
- Board Certified Psychiatrist (Child Psychiatry required)
- 5+ years ' experience with children & adult populations
- Experience with substance abuse / dual diagnosis
- Knowledge of the Detroit / Wayne County CMH system
- Experience with EMR & telehealth platforms
