CNC Machinist
Job Title: CNC Machinist / Programmer / Set-Up Technician
Location: Walker, MI
Pay: $30–$35/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer / Set-Up Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role ideal for a skilled machinist who can program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities:
- Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software (GibbsCAM preferred)
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills with minimal guidance
- Make machine adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and part quality
- Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Complete inspection reports and ensure parts meet customer specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
- Maintain machines and ensure proper operation during production runs
- Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and efficiency
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of CNC machining and set-up experience (job shop preferred)
- Experience with Mazak controls and/or G-code programming
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (GibbsCAM preferred)
- Strong understanding of machining processes and tolerances
- Ability to read and use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic understanding of M-code and G-code preferred
- Strong computer skills and ability to follow technical instructions
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs and perform physical tasks
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance
